If you haven’t read the last post.. I’d recommend it otherwise you’ll have no idea what I’m talking about. The next category for the Ray Ban Photography Awards was MOBILE, and I had 2 photos be picked (Yay!) basically anything taken with a mobile phone qualified. I wonder how you monitor this because how can you reeeeaaaallly be sure someone used their mobile phone (I have my doubts with a few) but if so i would like to know what kind of mobile they have because some of the pics I’m posting are amazing! So the two images from my collection that made the grade are this one..

This was at the U2 concert in Melbourne last year.. all girls will attest to how incredibly long the wait is for the bathroom at a gig and when I got to the front I saw this little girl at the end obviously waiting for somebody, looking at her U2 tickets like they were so precious.. whipped out my mobile and took a picture. I like the tones, how she contrasts but also the symmetry of the toilet stalls how it all leads to her.. simple pic but a goodie.. .. next one..

Before a night out in Melbourne just stepped off the bus on the bridge near federation square and the sun was setting, men were rowing,  the sky was amazing and my proper Lumix camera had died so I used my mobile phone (which by the way is the Sony.E X10 not a bad camera but not the best either really have to stay still for a quality shot).. love the colours, the ripples in the water and the rowers add a nice touch.. so pretty awesome to get these two in the semi-finals. Now for my favourites from the rest of them.. ..

“Oh please god wake meeeeee…”

Dressed in a long white maxi dress with black butterflies printed all over, hair natural and curly with my headphones in my ears. If you drove past me at the bus stop you might wonder what is she listening to?

At obscene o’clock that would be the melodic guitar soundings of ‘One’ by Metallica.. the perfect tuesday morning anthem; delicate enough at the beginning to ease you in, but not too soft that you stay asleep… as you well know what is to come in a few minutes. Dark vocals soon rasp over as the guitar gets rough teasing you before returning to melodic playing. What a great song choice for a chilly morning – the sun starting to shine – turning into the first 29 degree day of summer.

Now on the bus swaying slightly – already 4 minutes into the song – then starts the sporadic machine gun fire from the electric guitar as the drums get rowdy, suddenly in perfect unison they align and I’m perfectly awake! “DUDUDUDUDUUUU-DUDUDUDUDUDU-DU DARKNESS IMPRISONING ME. ALL THAT I SEE ABSOLUTE HOOORROOR..” Sitting here along with the rest of the rat race it takes me all of my willpower not to start singing aloud constrained to just minimal head-banging which is already getting glances from other more conservative folk. Then comes that amazing face melting guitar solo that makes my heart beat faster, my eyes glaze over in bewonderment imagining how on earth someone could move their fingers so fast.. musical orgasm complete I’m wide awake and ready for the day. =D
